Blockchain Valley Ventures triggers Singapore expansion

Swiss VC Blockchain Valley Ventures is set to launch a new Singapore office, with plans to begin operation early next year.

The accelerator and venture capital firm announced the launch during the Singapore Fintech Festival 2018 at Singapore Expo.

In Singapore BVV will aim to build a bridge between investors and tech firms in Europe and Asia. As a part of the launch the firm has partnered with the government owned-SGInnovate.

The firm is a spin-off from blockchain marketplace Lykke Corporation and is focused on initial token offering and blockchain-based business models. BVV was launched earlier this year and is led by former IBM Global Business Services vice president Heinrich Zetlmayer, former UBS and SAP Group CIO Oliver Bussmann.

“Similar to Switzerland, we believe Singapore is the ideal location to establish operations with the view of engaging fast-growing blockchain community in the ASEAN region and Asia, bringing now our know-how from the Swiss blockchain market here,” said Zetlmayer.

BVV has previously invested in businesses such as WiseCoin, Smart Containers, Secursys, and Ebakus.

In April this year, BVVV was chosen by cybersecurity company Wisekey, to lead the initial coin offering of its new cryptocurrency WiseCoin.
