SafetyWing partners with Eddy Travels to support medical cover when abroad

Digital travel medical insurance platform SafetyWing has formed a partnership with Eddy Travels.

Eddy Travel is an AI-powered travel assistant which converses with the consumer via a chat app and provides them with advice on travelling as well as comparisons for flights, accommodation and restaurants.

There are no clear details on how this partnership will work, but Eddy Travels is expecting an expanded integration of the two solutions to offer consumers a smooth experience when looking for travel medical insurance.

SafteyWing offers travel medical insurance for 180 countries and can be purchased even while the consumer is already on the trip. There is a starting price of £37 a month, or $68 a month when traveling within the US.

The platform works in a subscription-based manner, which will automatically extend every 28 days, until an end-date is chosen. For every 90 days the medical coverage is in use, the policyholder is covered for 30 days in their home country.

Earlier in the week, Allianz Global Assistance Canada formed a deal with travel agency network Virtuoso, to provide travellers with insurance policies. Some of the cover provided by Allianz Global Assistance includes medical and financial protections in the events of trip cancellations, delays and other disruptions.

Virtuoso member agencies will benefit from dedicated sales support, revenue optimisation tools, and an online learning and development platform.
