Pintek said to raise pre-Series A funding

Pintek, a Jakarta-based lending platform for accessing education, has allegedly secured an undisclosed pre-Series A round.

The funds were led by Global Founders, with participation also coming from Finch Capital and Amand Ventures, according to a report from Tech in Asia.

To meet the rising demand for its services, the FinTech is hoping to double its technology and commercial teams over the course of the next quarter, it said.

Pintek is designed to democratize access to education across Indonesia by offering individuals better access to loans. Consumers simply apply online for a loan and enter required data. This is then verified by Pintek and used for a credit score. Once approved, the necessary funds will be issued to the educational institute and the individual will be enrolled.

Last month, fellow Indonesia-based FinTech startup Paper.id closed its Series A round to increase its SME customer-base. The company has built software to handle digital payment, invoicing, expense tracking, inventory, and financial statement needs.
