PayPal pulls the plug on PornHub performers’ payments

Thousands of performers on pornography website PornHub have reportedly been cut off from using PayPal’s services.

The payment company made the announcement after a review noticed that the adult entertainment site made certain payments without permission from PayPal, Reuters reported.

PornHub issued a statement saying it was “devastated by PayPal’s decision to stop payouts to over a hundred thousand performers who rely on them for their livelihoods” before saying it apologized for any delays this has caused and that it would be “working around the clock to make sure all payouts are processed as fast as possible on the new payment methods,” Vice reported.

For instance, the company is looking into using cryptocurrencies as an alternative to traditional payment methods.

PornHub also argued that decisions like the ones made by PayPal increases the stigma towards sex workers.
