Curve has removed a YouTube video from the public eye after being questioned about its user numbers

Smart card provider Curve has been caught in the press’ crosshairs after removing a YouTube video from the public eye.

The video dates back to when Curve tried to drum up support for a crowdfunding drive earlier this year. The video showed an hour-long presentation and Q&A with CEO Shachar Bialick.

The video reportedly showed Bialick reiterating the claim that customers spend on average £1,400 every month using Curve’s card, which bundles together its customers other cards into one.

The video was set to private after Business Insider obtained leaked figures showing that only 14% of Curve’s customers were monthly active users, suggesting that the $200m FinTech startup struggles to keep customers engaged.

Business Insider has tried to ask Curve about how the claims in the video align with its reported low engagement numbers. The FinTech company has refused to respond to Business Insider’s story.

Following the publication’s story about how only 14% of Curve’s customers are active users, investors have reportedly began to wonder what state the company is really in.

Curve’s crowdfunding campaign closed in September after the company raised £6m on the back of a £42m Series B round in July.
