battleface closes seed round as it eyes global expansion

battleface, a digital travel insurance company, has closed a seed investment from Fintech Ventures Fund to help expand its global reach.

The venture firm joins existing backers Greenlight Re and Tangiers Group.

Funds from the round will be used to expand software development efforts, hire additional sales and business development staff and increase its global reach.

battleface provides travel insurance products for both the retail and wholesale space. Policies available all include 24/7 emergency travel, crisis and medical assistance as well access to on-the-ground field agents.

Other protections available include baggage loss or delay, business extension and equipment, medical expenses, money and passport loss, personal accident, personal liability, trip cancellation, war and terrorism, medical evacuation and more.

Battleface CEO Sasha Gainullin said, “We got our start because many travellers couldn’t find the right insurance products with coverage for their unique travel destinations and real needs.

“With the latest investment from Fintech Ventures Fund, we’ll continue to expand our B2B partnerships custom-building travel insurance solutions for groups, including business and NGO travellers, associations and membership-based organisations.”

Last year, Greenlight Re completed a strategic investment into property insurance claims fulfilment platform Handdii Pty. The startup helps improve the claims process by connecting insurance companies with contractors and ensures all parties receive real-time updates on proceedings.
