Online property investment platform Holiday Crowd has raised £290,000 in a Seed round from angel investors.

Among the round’s backers are Clive Sykes, the founder and chairman of holiday rental company Sykes Cottages, as well as Apadmi Ventures, the venture arm of UK app developer Apadmi.

Holiday Crowd allows users to buy shares in holiday rental properties across Europe from a minimum investment of £1,000.

Investors benefit from the financial rewards of ownership, such as a share in any rental income and potential capital appreciation linked to the underlying property, as well as discounted bookings.

The deal with Skye Cottages also gives the firm access to a 2 million-strong customer base and data for more than 8,000 UK and Irish properties.

Holiday Crowd CEO Alistair Malins said the funding will be used to invest in the platform and expanding its portfolio of hand-picked properties for investment.
