Nordic FinTech hub expands to Finland with new partnership

Newly-formed ecosystem builder Nordic FinTech Hub has formed a partnership with Helsinki FinTech Farm to help with expansion into Finland.

Nordic FinTech hub, which is a spin-off from Stockholm FinTech Hub, hopes the alliance of will help to connect between startups, banks and regulators in local ecosystems.

The Stockholm Hub is focused on supporting startups from initial idea through to company looking for international expansion. The Helsinki Hub offers its companies an international platform for innovation, with help from across the sector including the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority.

Members of the newly created incubator and accelerator will be given access to a resident membership, where the company moves its operations to the hubs offices. These members will have access to other startups and daily facetime with representatives from venture capital firms, government delegates and banks. An alternative option is a free digital membership.

Last month Nordic payment solution provider Nets has received an offer from Evergood 5 for the company’s entire share of capital. Also during the month, Sweden-based payment solutions platform iZettle received a ?30m debt funding from European Investment Bank.

Of the Nordic region, Sweden has received the biggest percentage of funding each year since 2014, with last year it representing 64.1 per cent.
