ParentPay acquires online school payments solution WIS

School payments solution provider ParentPay has acquired Dutch communications and payments software developer WIS.

Founded in 2003, WIS helps secondary schools in the Netherlands accept digital payments and access parental communication. The platform is now looking to expand in to the primary and tertiary education organisations.

The company also offers an employee talent development solution which can help with course management, learning delivery and conference organisation.

UK-based ParentPay provides schools with an online payment solution and a parental engagement platform. The technology offers online payments, income management and diner money administration.

Through the acquisition, WIS hopes to boost its position in the Dutch market, while ParentPay will use this acquisition to support its European growth plans.

ParentPay group chief executive Clint Wilson said, ?We have gained a deep respect for the success that WIS has achieved and it has shown that there is a significant opportunity in Europe for services such as ParentPay in the next five years where we expect to see a fundamental shift in school adoption of digital services for parents.

“The Dutch market is one of only a handful where schools have broadly adopted parental engagement and payment services.p>

This is the third acquisition made by ParentPay in as many months. Earlier in the year, the company bought parental engagement solution provider Schoolcomms, and late last year, ParentPay picked up school meal support application Cypad.

Last year, half of the capital deployed in to the Netherlands FinTech sector went to companies focused on infrastructure and enterprise software.
