UCS acquires payment integrity platform Zebu Compliance

United Claim Solutions (UCS) has acquired healthcare payment integrity platform solution Zebu Compliance Solutions for an undisclosed amount.

Through the acquisition, UCS hopes to extend its product offerings into new customer segments. It will also provide Zebu with additional resources and capabilities to bolster its products and increase its customer base.

Zebu is a software developer that delivers payment integrity and credentialing solutions to payors, clearinghouses, and provider organizations in the US. Its services help to improve medical coding, reimbursement assurance, auditing toolsets, claim accuracy and staff licensing/exclusion monitoring.

Through its technology, the company can help medical institutions to manage their revenue cycle by supporting claims, facilitating prompt payments, and building insights on trends, benchmarks and opportunities.

Arizona-based UCS is a fellow payment integrity company, building customisable solutions for TPAs, self-funded groups, labor and trust organizations, stop-loss carriers and health plans. Offerings include cash flow management, primary PPO management, bill edit, audit and review, data analysis and an evanced savings program.

UCS is a portfolio company of Great Point Partners, a healthcare investment firm which is currently deploying its $215m fund II.

Great Point Partners managing director Noah Rhodes said, “The addition of Zebu provides UCS with added scale and access to over 1,000 new customers. Zebu’s technology, knowledge base and product suite will help UCS continue to improve its payment integrity solutions.”

Earlier in the week, payment accuracy and analytics solution Cotiviti Holdings acquired healthcare solution developer Verscend Technologies for $4.9bn. The deal will see the companies provide organisations with tools to optimise claims, detect fraud and manage financial performance.
