Crowdfunding platform GiveHope.com collects $500k seed

GiveHope.com, an online donation and crowdfunding platform, has collected $500,000 in a seed round.

The investment was supplied by PIR Equities partner and chairman O.D. Kobo.

Launching in 2017, the company is a crowdfunding platform which empowers people to raise money for personal causes and life events, or more extreme circumstances such as accidents or illnesses. The platform works by a fundraiser launching a free campaign, the message will be spread across the community and all donations will be deployed straight to the fundraiser bank account.

Based in New York, the company enables crowdfunds for a range of causes including, charity, medical, volunteer, education, sport, travel, animals, business, competitions and events, among others.

This investment will enable GiveHope to continue its exponential growth.

Earlier in the year, online crowdfunding platform Kimbia was acquired by Rand Capital-backed GiveGab.

Kimbia is an online fundraising, crowdfunding and event management platform for nonprofits. The Texas-based company offers a P2P solution to help charitable organisations to engage their supporters and use real-time reporting tools to monitor success.

Fellow nonprofit-focused crowdfunding company GiveGab acquired the business in order to boost its own services in the charity market.

Last year, the lion share of funding to the crowdfunding sector went to companies based in North America, according to data by FinTech Global. North American-based companies raised 59 per cent of the total investment volume.
