Landis bags $2m in a seed round led by Signia

Real estate investing platform Landis Technologies has bagged $2m in its seed round led by Signia Venture Partners.

Participation to the round also came from Red Swan Ventures, Graph Ventures, Radical Ventures and Kima Ventures. Contributions were also made by the founders of RealtyShares, Compass, Floored, Tango, Rypple, and JetBlue chairman Joel Peterson.

Founded in 2017, the company helps investors to source and acquire portfolios of single-family homes. Through data and machine learning, the company is able to source off-market properties and match them with large real estate investors.

The US-based company also enables property owners to sell their portfolios without the need of a broker, with the platform helping to find the best buyers.

Through this capital injection, Landis will continue to focus on transacting portfolios of off-market single family homes to institutional investors. These types of portfolios contain 10 to 100 properties and enable buyers to scale in targeted geographies at accelerated rates.  The company hopes to take advantage in a shift from single-family homes going from retail to institutional investors.

Proceeds from the round will also be used to improve its technology and to hire more staff, with a focus on those with experience in machine learning, software engineering and real estate.

Signia Venture Partners principal Linus Liang said, “Landis’s platform leverages advanced data science and deep real estate expertise to create a new market for institutional investors. As early stage investors in disruptive technologies, we could not be more excited to be working with this team.”

Earlier in the year, Signia participated in the $20m Series B round of PropTech platform Reali, to support the company develop its AI technology. Launched in 2016, the company delivers a real estate transaction platform which aims to help decision making through the use of data and technology.
