Fintech backer Chicago Ventures eyes $75m for Fund III raise

Seed-stage investor Chicago Ventures is out eyeing up to $75m for its third fundraise.

The firm’s previous investments have included RegTech business LogicGate, wealtech operator M1 Finance and lending company Meritize.

Target investment areas include tech-enabled enterprise and consumer businesses, covering fintech, analytics, B2B2C, sales and marketing SaaS, healthcare IT and marketplace/on-demand services.

The firm collected $66m for its sophomore vehicle, which it renamed from I2A Fund II mid-raise following a rebrand of the firm from I2A in the summer of 2013.

No capital has been registered for Fund III to date according to a US securities filing.

Chicago Ventures collected $40m for the final close of its debut fund in 2013.

While named I2A, the firm raised a $10m vehicle in 2007.

I2A initially stood for Illinois Innovation Accelerator Fund, and targeted seed and early-stage investments in the Illinois region.
