Zego to offer scooter insurance to Dott users in France and Belgium

On-demand insurance platform Zego has partnered with e-scooter company Dott to insure the fleet of vehicles across France and Belgium.

Zego’s insurance policy will be integrated into Dott’s sign-up process, providing all users access to comprehensive cover. Dott is absorbing the price of the insurance cover so no extra cost is passed on to riders.

This partnership is Zego’s introduction to the France and Belgium markets.

Founded in 2016, Zego offers flexible insurance policies for the gig economy workers, supplying self-employed and private hire drivers with accessible and cost-effective coverage. Policies cover scooters, cars, bikes, vans and others.

Dott was founded in 2018 and offers an e-scooter service in Paris, Lyon, Brussels, and Milan. A rider simply grabs one of the scooters located around a city and use it for as long as they need. The company plans to launch e-bikes by the end of the year.

This partnership comes hot off the heels of Zego’s $42m Series B which was raised to support its expansion across Europe and double its workforce.  The round was supported by Target Global, Balderton Capital, and a number of angels.

Zego CEO and co-founder Sten Saar said, “We believe that companies such as Dott represent the future of mobility and we want to enable the growth of this exciting new industry by creating insurance models which suit its needs and can unlock its potential. For this form of transport to be widely adopted and welcomed by all, it’s essential that e-scooters come with the right insurance without causing inconvenience for riders.”

Earlier in the year, Zego revealed it is providing WeFlex’s fleet of ride-share drivers with insurance policies, through new partnership.
