A1 is planning to accept cryptocurrency payments

Austrian A1, the mobile provider, has revealed plan to accept cryptocurrency payments.

It is reportedly testing out using the digital currencies Bitcoin, Dash, Ethereum, Litecoin, Stellar and XRP in some stores, according to Austrian tech news site Futurezone.

“Cash is a discontinued model,” claimed Markus Schreiber, head of business marketing at Ai. “With our pilot operation in the A1 shops we test demand and acceptance of digital currency in Austria.”

A1 is partnering with banking solution providers, Salamantex, Ingenico and Concardis for the project.

FinTech Global reported in June 2018 that Concardis had merged with Nordic payments group Concardis. The transaction was priced at $6bn.
