Goldman Sachs is beefing up its coding department

Wall Street giant Goldman Sachs is on a hiring spree to find coders to meet the trading demands of the modern world.

The company is on the lookout for more than 100 engineers, according to a report in Bloomberg that cited the firm’s co-head of engineering in the trading division. Most of the new hires will be placed in either New York or London. They will help be used to develop of Marquee, Goldman Sach’s trading and risk-management platform. The platform began development in 2013.

Goldman Sach’s plan comes as Wall Street is responding to changes in the trading world, with more emphasis being put on automation. By using technology, the firm can reduce trading time, process bigger quantities of requests and respond more rapidly to queries would help generate more trades and more business.

The plan was approved by the company’s CEO earlier in the year.
