Philippine boxer and now-senator Manny Pacquiao launches celebrity cryptocurrency

Manny Pacquiao is launching PAC Coin, which he claims is the world’s first celebrity cryptocurrency.

Pacquiao rose to fame as a professional boxer and later as a senator in the Philippines, his home country. He has also taken a shot at a career as a love song singer. Pacquiao announced his cryptocurrency during a concert in Manila in front of 2,000 people. PAC Coin will be listed on Singapore’s Global Crypto Offering Exchange, the GCOX.

However, he is not the only famous person backing the crypto. The former Liverpool FC footballer Michael Owen and Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed al-Nahyan, a member of the Abu Dhabi’s ruling family, are also backing PAC Coin, according to The Telegraph.

Still, PAC Coin is not the only celebrity backed cryptocurrency on the block. For instance, boxer Floyd Mayweather has promoted a cryptocurrency marketing firm named Crypto Media Group. Moreover, Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki teamed up with singer Jason Durelo in October 2018 to announce their cryptocurrency via GCOX.
