Business leaders worldwide are increasingly worrying about how cyber threats. However, fewer and fewer are bullish about their ability to protect against them.
That is according to new research from Microsoft. Having surveyed over 1,500 corporate chieftains, the researchers found that the number of people thinking cyber risks was a top-five priority has jumped form 62% in 2017 to 79% this year. The number of business leaders who saw it as the number one risk also rose from 6% to 22% in the same period.
At the same time the number of business leaders confident about their ability to tackle this threat has dropped. Back in 2017, 9% said they were unable to understand and assess cyber risk. Today, that number has doubled to 18%.
Similarly, 12% did not think they could prevent cyber threats two years ago. This number grew to 19% in 2019. Moreover, the number of business leaders feeling unconfident about responding to a hack jumped from 15% to 22% in the same period.
