Winnie raises $9m Series A investment round

The childcare marketplace startup Winnie has raised $9m in a new Series A funding round.

Rethink Impact, a venture capital firm investing pin female-led enterprises, led the San Francisco-based startup’s round. The investor has previously supported investments like female-focused investment platform Ellevest’s $34.6m financing round.

Winnie’s new cash injection was also supported by investors like VC firms Reach Capital, Impact America Fund, Unusual Ventures, Ludlow Ventures and Afore Capital, according to Crunchbase. Winnie has raised $15.5m to date, including this latest round.

FinTech Global reported in December 2018 that Ludlow Ventures was eyeing to raise $60m in its second fund.

Afore Capital as previously supported the credit card startup Petal when it raised money.

Winnie is by no means alone in catering to the mummies and daddies. For instance, UK-based StorkCard has launched an app and is planning to release a debit card to help new parents better plan their financials around their child.

Moreover, Greenlight Financial Technology raised a huge $54m Series B round in September to help parents raise financially aware kids.
