Crowdfunding platform Crowdcube has made its 1,000th raise

Exeter-based Crowdcube has facilitated its 1,000th successful crowdfunding as FinTech startups lead the way.

Crowdcube noted that FinTech has been a dominant industry using the platform to raise money over the years. Since 2011, the sector has attracted £120m through Crowdcube. ID Finance, Monzo, Revolut and Curve are just some of the FinTech companies that have used the platform in the past.

ID Finance revealed in October that it was looking to use Crowdcube again to get another capital boost.

In August 2018, Crowdcube revealed that the investors who injected money into Revolut’s 2016 crowdfunding round had been able to see returns of roughly 19 times their original investment.

Two other prominent sectors using the crowdfunding platform were the food and beverage industries.

Luke Lang, co-founder and CMO at Crowdcube, stated that reaching the new milestone “shows how committed communities are backing trail-blazing businesses in greater numbers than ever before.”

He continued, “Businesses that innovate, inspire and excite will draw armies of followers and stoke exceptional commercial benefits, as did Monzo, Revolut and BrewDog, our three unicorn success stories. Since Darren Westlake and I started Crowdcube in 2011, we have seen entrepreneurs foster collective action to make an impact on the world. I’m excited about the future as we continue to fuel the drive and vision of our entrepreneurs.”
