Accenture to acquire Symantec’s cybersecurity division

Accenture has agreed to acquire Symantec’s Cyber Security Services from Broadcom for an undisclosed amount.

This deal will boost Accenture’s ability to anticipate, detect and respond to cyberthreats.

Symantec’s Cyber Security Services includes tools for global threat monitoring and analysis which leverage a network of security operation centres, real-time adversary and threat intelligence.

Accenture CEO Julie Sweet said, “Cybersecurity has become one of the most critical business imperatives for all organizations regardless of industry or geographic location.

“With the addition of Symantec’s Cyber Security Services business, Accenture Security will offer one of the most comprehensive managed services for global businesses to detect and manage cybersecurity threats aimed at their companies.”

Accenture is a professional services company which offers a variety of digital services to more than 40 industries. Its security division offers end-to-end protections for businesses, with offerings including digital identity, application and managed security, and risk management.

This is the latest in a long line of acquisitions from Accenture. The company recently bought the security of things company Deja vu Security. Based in Seattle, the startup helps businesses bolster their cyber resilience on connected devices and IoT devices.

Other acquisitions from Accenture include iDefense, Maglan, Redcore, Arismore and FusionX.
