Plotly Technologies receives funding from fellow AI company

Plotly Technologies, an analytics software developer, has received a $1.7m investment from fellow AI company Scale AI.

With the new funds, Plotly will accelerate the development of its Dash solution which creates interactive analytic applications in Python and R. Dash gives data scientists to create customer user interfaces which are powered by AI and machine learning technology.

Financial institutions are using Plotly to crate customized and interactive reports which lets users explore their data.

The investment from Scale AI will support development collaborations between Plotly and Canadian companies. Some of the use cases include exploring what-if scenarios, monitoring industry trends and improving data sharing.

Scale AI CEO Julien Billot said, “Scale AI’s mission is to enhance productivity across industries in Canada through the integration of AI in supply chains and to support the emergence of a Canadian AI ecosystem. We’re excited to invest in this project with Plotly, a company that is already an established provider of innovative open source and enterprise analytic solutions.

Following the close of the deal, Plotly is making more than 30 free, open source AI-focused application templates. It will also offer over 10,000 of training on Dash to Scale AI consortium partners.

Plotly CEO Jack Parmer said, “As companies continue to invest in AI, the need to provide access to and facilitate an understanding of underlying models and outcomes is crucial to realizing potential business benefits, especially in high availability environments like supply chain logistics.

“Today, Dash is helping companies operationalize these investments so that business teams and data science teams are working in lock step. With the added investment from Scale AI, Plotly will be able to quickly extend these capabilities and make them even more beneficial for the development of AI and supply chain technology.”
