WorldRemit inks deal with Alipay

International money transfer company WorldRemit will now support Alipay users following a new agreement.

WorldRemit is an international money transfer platform which lets users send money to 150 counties at low costs. The app lets a send set how the money is picked up on the other end including bank transfer, cash pickup, mobile money, WorldRemit wallet or Airtime top up.

Alipay is a Chinese online payment provider which is the primary method of digital and mobile transactions in the country.

Alipay head of global remittances Ma Zhiguo said, “We look forward to working with WorldRemit to build a remittance service that is fast, secure, and cost effective.

“The unique mobile to mobile payment experience that this partnership delivers allows us to provide a convenient money transfer service to Alipay customers.”

WorldRemit raised a $175m Series D round last year, from backers including TCV, Accel and Leapfrog Investments.
