Clearhaus gains UK license days after Brexit

Digital payments acceptance startup Clearhaus has reportedly received a license to offer its services in the UK.

The FinTech received the certification from the Financial Conduct Authority and is now able to provide UK businesses with its payment technology, according to a report from Business Money. Clearhaus already has a European license and is supporting over 10,000 online websites across 33 countries.

With Brexit, the UK FinTech market is in a status of unknown. How the change will impact businesses still remains to be seen. However, Clearhaus is striving in the market. The startup claims in January 2020, it witnessed a record number of UK companies signing up to become customers, rising by 70% on the same time last year.

Speaking to Business Money, Clearhaud CEO Claus Methmann Christensen said, “It is an interesting development that a growing number of UK customers are choosing Clearhaus in the wake of Brexit. And it tells us that foreign and Danish solutions are still needed in the UK market.”

Companies are trying to minimise the impact of Brexit on their operations. Last year, Starling revealed it is opening an office in Ireland so it can continue to offer its services to consumers outside the UK.

German InsurTech GetSafe opened an office in London and created an independent subsidiary to operate within the country.
