Crypto data platform Coin Metrics collects $6m in new round

Cryptoasset data and infrastructure platform Coin Metrics has collected $6m in funding as it looks to enhance its product suite.

The round was led by Highland Capital Partners, with participation also coming from FMR, LLC, Castle Island Ventures, Communitas Capital, Collaborative Fund, Avon Ventures, Raptor Group, Coinbase Ventures and Digital Currency Group.

Following the equity infusion, the FinTech hopes to bolster its team, expand its product offering and offer deeper services.

Coin Metrics provides institutional investors with cryptoasset data products which helps them make more informed decisions. The company delivers data across multiple formats to industry stakeholders which includes financial enterprises, funds, media, research companies, and data/application providers.

The company offers a feed of aggregate on-chain data for fundamental analysis and trading, trades and book data for top exchanges and USD price benchmarks, and index agent services.

Highland Capital Partners principal Sean Judge said, “Financial institutions require clean and transparent data to make decisions. These same requirements exist for Bitcoin and other cryptoassets that have emerged over the last decade. It’s become clear that Coin Metrics is the premier destination for network and market data.”.

As part of the deal Sean Judge and Highland Capital general partner Bob Davis will join Coin Metrics’ board of directors.
