The government in New South Wales has announced plans to launch a new cybersecurity centre in Bathurst to scan for online vulnerabilities across different governmental departments.
The new centre will be placed in Bathurst and is scheduled to open in July, ZDNet reported.
Minister for customer service Victor Dominello said the new sentre will be “critical to ensuring enhanced monitoring of at-risk government systems” when it opens.
The centre is part of the government’s $1.1bn fund devoted to digitalise New South Wales. Of that, $165m will be devoted to the government’s cybersecurity efforts.
The news comes after Service NSW fell victim to a phishing attack in April that compromised 47 staff email accounts and the consumer data they had access to.
