Willa collects $3m in a seed round to make it easier for freelancers

Willa has raised $3m in funding to make it easier for freelancers to arrange for payments and to get control of their finances.

Particularly, the Sweden and US-based FinTech company will use the new capital injection to launch its Willa Pay app, which is set up to slash the paperwork freelancers will have to go through, TechCrunch reported.

Essentially, once the freelancer has finished a job, it can use the app to tell Willa who they did the job for and how much they’re supposed to be compensated and Willa will then take care of the rest. For a small fee, the freelancer can also get Willa to pay the whole amount immediately.

EQT Ventures led the seed round, which also saw participation from the former Atomico partner Mattias Ljungman’s new Moonfire Ventures. Other participants included Nordic Makers, Michael Hansen and Johan Lorenzen, the chairman of Nordic API Gateway.

EQT Ventures recently led Swedish FinTech platform Anyfin’s $30m Series B round.
