Property insurance platform Obie acquires Skylight Insurance

Obie, a real estate insurance platform, has acquired insurance brokerage platform Skylight Insurance, for an undisclosed amount.

Skylight, which was founded in Chicago in 2017, offers an online platform where consumers can find the best insurance for them. Users can compare policies for auto, property, commercial, life, pet, builders, disability, rentals, boat and more.

Through the acquisition, Obie will further its expansion across the US and increase support for its sales and service team. It will also increase the expertise in commercial and multi-family insurance, it said.

In combining the property and portfolio data with the insurance process, Obie has been able to save customers over 15% on insurance processes, it claims.

Obie chief insurance officer and former Skylight CEO Matthew Sutika said, ?Technology is going to dramatically change how insurance is bought, sold, and managed over the next decade. Ive seen what possible in the personal lines space and am excited to be at the forefront of what can be done to improve and enhance the commercial property insurance vertical.

?We always strive to provide a fast, transparent, and consultative process for our clients and Obie capabilities will take that even further.p>
