Getsafe, CompareTheMarket team to bolster UK insurance policy offering

German InsurTech Getsafe has partnered with UK-based company to provide better insurance policies to UK consumers.

Established in 2015, Getsafe is a digital insurance company that offers liability, contents and car insurance in Germany and contents insurance in the UK. The company is currently one of Europe’s top 10 funded business-to-consumer insurance startups and has over 175,000 customers across Germany and the UK. To date, the firm has raised $53m in funding. is a price comparison website that helps its customers get the best possible deals on a wide range of insurance deals including car, pet, home, van and life insurance.

According to Getsafe, the partnership will help the two companies offer better value and more flexible insurance policies to millions of consumers in the UK.

The German company added the new collaboration is a ‘huge milestone’ for Getsafe who are now able to reach a wider audience with its app-based insurance offering, while is able to offer its users a new form of insurance interaction through the partnership.

Getsafe CEO and founder Christian Wiens said, “Getsafe is experiencing continuous growth – something the partnership with Compare The Market will drive even further. We are determined to make digital, app-based insurance the standard throughout Europe in the coming years, and this partnership puts us on the right track.”

In 2020, Getsafe made its first step towards introducing a life insurance offering after it created a smartphone app where customers are able to buy a policy, make a claim and overall manage their coverage. The company added the Covid-19 pandemic had helped the firm boost the number of policies sold.

Later the same year, the firm added car insurance to its digital insurance portfolio, creating car insurance policies optimised for smartphones.
