South African InsurTech Ctrl rakes in $2.3m investment

Short-term insurance advice provider Ctrl has secured a $2.3m investment from business funder Naspers Foundry.

Founded in 2017, Ctrl is a short-term insurance advice platform that links brokers, consumers and insurers all in one single platform.

According to Tech in Africa, traditional insurance brokers can now digitize and optimize their business operations through Ctrl’s digital solution.

The investment was part of Naspers R1.4bn commitment to tech startups through Naspers Foundry, which is its investment vehicle.

Nasper South Africa CEO Phuthi Mahanyele-Dabengwa labelled Ctrl as a ‘great example of how tech-driven innovations can improve upon traditional business models’.

Meanwhile, Naspers head Fabian Whate described Ctrl as a ‘smart digital platform that is unlocking consumer choice resulting in competitive pricing’.
