InsurTech aimed at emigrants asistensi said to raise ?8.9 investment

Spain-headquartered InsurTech company asistensi has reportedly collected ?8.9m in a funding round, which was led by 468 Capital.

The round was also supported by Mundi Ventures and Mountain Nazca, both of which backed asistensi funding round in December2020, according to a report from Business Insider.

Founded in 2020, asistensi helps consumers find the best health insurance that covers medical emergencies and immediate medical attention. Its services are aimed at supporting those who have emigrated and wish to continue caring for their loved ones in their countries of origin. Currently, the platform support families in Venezuela, Dominican Republic and Mexico.

According to its website, 98% of cases were responded to in under 45 minutes.

The InsurTech sector has received a lot of funding over the past five years. Total annual investment reached new heights in 2010, with $7bn invested through 325 deals, according to data from FinTech Global.

Despite the pandemic, InsurTech companies managed to rake in a lot of funds, with the global sector raising nearly $1bn more than 2019.
