OneSpan partners with BankID to improve fraud protection for Norwegian consumers

Digital banking transaction security developer OneSpan has deployed its technology into BankID to help improve customer experiences.

Based in Norway, BankID is a personal electronic ID in a mobile app that is backed by Norway’s government and all Norwegian banks, it claims. The platform is used to secure citizen identities and complete transactions online

Consumers in Norway use BankID to access banking apps, view and sign transactions such as taxes, and access public digital services.

The deal will see BankID integrate OneSpan’s Mobile Security Suite, Application Shielding and Cloud Authentication technology. These tools will help authenticate users, protect the app from mobile threats and fraud, and improve the user experience. The cloud solutions will also give the platform a flexible environment to bolster security and scalability.

OneSpan interim president and CEO Steven Worth said, “We have had a strong partnership with BankID in Norway and now more than ever support their vision and execution of a secure digital identity.

“OneSpan’s digital identity and anti-fraud solutions enable financial services providers to deliver secure and trusted experiences while minimising friction, mitigating fraud, and reducing operational costs.”

OneSpan recently released a whitepaper outlining how the eIDAS regulation presents a range of opportunities for electronic signatures in the European Union.
