Amazon moves into UK business insurance market with Superscript deal

Retail giant Amazon will begin offering insurance to UK SMEs through a partnership with broker Superscript.

According to Carrier Management, this will be the technology giant’s first foray into business insurance in the UK.

Through the partnership, members of Amazon’s Business Prime program will be able to purchase cover from Superscript including contents, cyber and personal indemnity insurance. These features will be underwritten by ‘major UK insurers’ according to a Superscript spokesperson.

To try to persuade companies over to them, Amazon will be offering a discount of 20% compared to current rates.

Superscript CEO and co-founder Cameron Shearer said, “The insurance industry needs to bridge the divide between insurers and customers by providing a quick, smooth buying process that is customer-centric.”

Amazon Business UK and Ireland country manager Molly Dobson said, ““As businesses come out of the pandemic and gradually resume normalcy, we want customers to have the best-in-class tools to run their business.”
