Eventus Systems names three key hires to support rapid growth

Trade surveillance and market risk solutions developer Eventus Systems has made three key hires in the EMEA to support its continued international growth.

Based in the Stockholm office, Ollie Cadman has been named as Eventus’ new chief product officer, while Martin Appiah and David Griffiths, who will be based in the UK, have both been named as a director of regulatory affairs.

Cadman will help build out Eventus’ global product team and establish a framework for expanding the product.

Appiah will focus on growing Eventus’ client base in the Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, ensuring the company meets demands from local regulations and client risk assessments.

Griffiths will act as the spearhead for the firm’s client implementation program, globally. The aim will be to ensure clients maximise the effectiveness of the surveillance procedures, resources and flexibility available to them in the Validus platform. Validus is the company’s flagship product and helps companies implement tools to handle surveillance, market risk, algo monitoring and AML/transaction monitoring.

Speaking on the new hires, Eventus CEO Travis Schwab said, “We’re very proud to continue attracting tremendous talent to the organisation and to methodically build on our team with some of the most experienced and knowledgeable professionals in the business, who understand first-hand the challenges our clients face.

“Ollie has a powerful background in product development and client service leadership roles within some of the most prominent firms in the industry and is ideally suited to take on our new Chief Product Officer role. Martin and David are trade surveillance subject matter experts who’ve closely followed and analysed regulatory developments, particularly in the regions in which they’ve served.

“Each of them will play important roles in enabling us to provide the best possible service to our clients conducting business globally and in the EMEA region.”

The RegTech company first entered the European market in 2020. Since February 2020, it has nearly quadrupled its team globally.

Eventus is hoping to continue its growth momentum. The RegTech company recently secured $30m in its Series B round, which was led by Centana Growth Partners and closed in September 2021.  With the funds, Eventus is looking to double its workforce, release new financial risk applications and expand its product suite.

Prior to joining Eventus, Cadman served as the chief product officer at Vela Trading Systems. Whilst serving there for five years, Cadman was responsible for duct management and development, product operations, market data licensing, exchange connectivity and client support.

Griffiths has previously acted as SteelEye’s head of trade surveillance. Some of the other former positions include product director at Cider Barn Group Consulting, and senior compliance strategy and trade surveillance roles at JPMorgan Chase, Standard Chartered Bank and Oracle Mantas.

Finally, Appiah has previously served as compliance surveillance SME (Subject Matter Expert) at Royal Bank of Canada. Prior to that, Appiah has held roles at Compliance Surveillance Remediation as lead consultant and Nomura International as compliance surveillance officer.
