Mitsubishi drivers to get better insurance through LexisNexis deal

LexisNexis Risk Solutions has extended its agreement with Mitsubishi Motors North America, which will help drivers access better insurance premiums.

In line with the deal, Mitsubishi’s telematics data from the Mitsubishi Road Assist+ app will be added into the LexisNexis Telematics OnDemand solution, which integrates driving behaviour data into auto insurer rating and underwriting workflows.

Through this, US-based Mitsubishi vehicle owners that have opted to share their data for insurance purposes, can use their Road Assist+ telematics data to earn discounts on insurance premiums.

The drivers can use the data at the point of quote, as well as underwriting and renewal.

Auto insurers can provide customers and prospects that own Mitsubishi vehicles a more personalised pricing and usage-based insurance option. Insurers can also access critical insights for rating and pricing consumers on their driving style.

LexisNexis Risk Solutions head of global telematics product strategy and development Marc Gordan said, “As the automotive and auto insurance industries desire greater data sophistication and decision-making insights, telematics data is key to unlocking added value for the auto insurer, the automaker and ultimately their shared customer.

“Expanding the Mitsubishi Motors telematics app data to now be included in our Telematics OnDemand solution demonstrates the significance of telematics data in further unifying and enabling these industries to offer consumers more streamlined, personalized pricing experiences in exchange for sharing their driving data.”

LexisNexis has established a number of partnerships and acquisitions this year. Most recently, it acquired up with TruNarrative, a cloud-based financial crime detection and prevention technology provider.
