INSHUR launches claim solution for UK customers

Mobile-based auto insurance platform INSHUR has launched an in-house, technology-led, claims solution for UK customers.

INSHUR said this strategic move enables it to own the entire value chain, effectively providing a supportive, fully transparent experience for customers without outsourcing any of the claims journey. This approach will also help control costs, allowing savings to be passed on to its policyholders.

The digital-first claims handling infrastructure is supported by a UK-based, internal team of claim professionals all of whom bring a decade or more of experience in insurance fraud, engineering and personal injury.

Founded in New York in 2017 and led by Dan Bratshpis and David Daiches, INSHUR aims to harness data to transform rideshare insurance, initially for New York’s UBER drivers. The InsurTech raised $35m in its Series B round last year.

The INSHUR platform allows drivers to receive a quote, purchase and service an insurance policy at their convenience via their smartphone in minutes. Rather than use a broker and fill out numerous forms, customers simply scan their professional license using the INSHUR app which automatically retrieves and processes the relevant pricing data to get their insurance coverage in minutes rather than wait days to start driving and earning.

INSHUR has also built its own Managed Repair Network to provide streamlined, affordable access to respected body shops throughout the UK.

This step towards owning more of the value chain is not a first for INSHUR.  In 2020, the company successfully brought its US claims operations in-house, reinventing the process from the ground up to deliver an end-to-end, first-class digital experience for its thousands of customers in New York City.

Marc Mercer, INSHUR’s head of claims, said, “With the launch of our in-house claims operation, we are now able to bring the exceptional customer experience we’ve come to be known for in the industry to the critical point in time when our customers need us most and are having to make a claim.”
