Kubernetes security tool ARMO bags $30m in its Series A

ARMO, a Kubernetes open-source security project, has bagged $30m in its Series A investment round.

Tiger Global with Hyperwise Ventures served as the lead investors, with commitments also coming from Pitango First and Peled Ventures.

With the capital injection, the company hopes to open additional offices, hire more internationally and expand its product and marketing teams.

Kubernetes, an open-source container orchestration solution which has become a leading operating system for cloud-native applications.

ARMO is building Kubescape, which it claims is the first end-to-end open-source Kubernetes security platform.

The tool scans configurations files, Kubernetes clusters and worker nodes for misconfigurations and known vulnerabilities, and more.

ARMO CEO and co-founder Shauli Rozen said, “DevOps teams are responsible for the security of Kubernetes and they prefer to use an open source for it, but they also need the solution to be end-to-end and fit natively into their existing stack.

“Companies are being forced to choose: either try to integrate several different open source tools together or commit to a proprietary solution that you can’t adapt, access the code, influence the roadmap or contribute to.”
