qlub stars as the largest PayTech seed deal in H1 2022

• qlub, an app to split restaurant bills and more, was the largest PayTech seed deal in the first quarter of 2022 raising a considerable $17m, led by Cherry Ventures and Point Nine. Co-founder Eyad Alkassar says they are capitalizing on how little the dine-in experience has improved. qlub works to let customers pay their restaurant bills fast through scanning a QR code on their phone even without registering. Customers have the ability to split the bill with others or pay via Apple Pay, credit card or through instalments.
• Overall there were 112 PayTech seed deals globally with the United States accounting for the most at 28 deals in total (a 26% share). The PayTech sector was the second most dominant seed deal sector in H1 2022 accounting for 11.5% of global seed deals, Blockchain & Crypto was first with a staggering 25%.
