ThreatX boosts API protection with Series B close

ThreatX, an API protection platform, has closed its Series B funding round on $30m, which was led by Harbert Growth Partners.

Contributions also came from Vistara Growth, and existing ThreatX backers .406 Ventures, Grotech Ventures and Access Venture Partners.

This capital will help ThreatX accelerate investments in platform development and scale their global sales and marketing initiatives as companies look to block complex attacks targeting APIs and web applications.

ThreatX claims to differentiate itself from other API security solutions by supplying organisations with the ability to discover and visualise their attack surface, block attacks in real-time and gain access to 24/7 managed services to support resource-constrained security teams.

Its API protection platform safeguards APIs from all threats, including DDoS attempts, bot attacks, API abuse, exploitations of known vulnerabilities, and zero-day attacks. The multi-layered detection capabilities identify malicious actors and initiate appropriate action.

Alongside the close of the round, the CyberTech company has named Harbert Growth Partners general partner Tom Roberts as its newest member to the board of directors.

ThreatX CEO Gene Fay said, “While APIs bring rich opportunities to companies across nearly every market, they can also quickly devolve into business threats if not secured.

“The ThreatX platform delivers the one-two punch that modern organisations seek in API and web application protection by incorporating behavioural analytics and multiple detection methods within a single analytics engine. This funding will enable us to accelerate development of our platform’s capabilities and expand our global go-to-market strategy.”

The CyberTech company previously raised $10m in funding last year. The round, which was led by .406 Ventures, supported the company explore new verticals to enter.

In other API security news, Impart Security recently collected $6m for its seed round. The company protects APIs and microservices with threat detection, automated API discovery and run time protection.
